Central California Auto Show Musings, with a few photos.
(edit#1: photos added. lighting is horrible for photos, and i forgot a tripod.
edit#2: shuffling the ‘edit’ line, so it isn’t the title...)
Central California Auto Show (part of the Motor Trend series), aka Fresno Auto show. Exhibit Hall and Valdez Hall, with Inyo Ave closed between the two for test drive vehicle parking (Toyota and FCA); Ford parked theirs in front of the Exhibit Hall along M St.
Test drove the F150 (ecoboost 3.5); impressed with this engine (having had it in a rental Expedition as well). Extended cab is a bit tight on space, but crew sacrifices too much bed length. Their ride-along focused his pitch mostly on the tech.
Also test drove the Ecodiesel Ram 1500 (also impressed with that engine; would consider it a contender for future purchase). Their driver was a decked out crew cab, leather, etc. Ride-along girl made a much better sales pitch, without seeming too much like a pitch; talked about the features, and my needs in a truck. On a side note, road construction and traffic are a huge hindrance on the drive route.
Was about to cut out, but no line at the FCA booth as I came from the other half of the show tempted me into a drive in the Fiat 124 Spider Abarth. Nice little grumble, but little room to open it up (again, construction and traffic). Chatted about nightlife instead, gave some directions and ideas. Little talk about the car, but I’m okay with that, as I probably wouldn’t buy the Spider. The girl assigned to the Spider was quite friendly.
One of Toyota crew asked as I passed if I’d like to test drive a Toyota; with just the prius, rav4, highlander, and camry to choose from? No thanks.
